This Friday, April 28th, is the deadline for submitting games to compete in the Intel Pixel Awards Europe 2023. It's worth noting that this year's edition is supported by Intel, which has become the event's titular partner. This is one of the largest awards for independent games in Europe. For the competition, developers can submit published games, Early Access titles, and demos, which will compete for the attention of the jury and the audience in twelve diverse categories.
The Pixel Heaven 2023 Games and Pop Culture Festival is a true celebration for independent game lovers. In addition to the opportunity to play a lot of interesting titles, attendees will also be able to try retro games on consoles, computers, and arcade machines. The organizers also invite visitors to participate in numerous panels, which will be graced by distinguished guests. These include:
○ Jim Bagley – one of the pillars of the legendary game publisher OCEAN. Co-creator of ZX Spectrum NEXT.
○ Simon Butler – the creator of Pedro's Garden for the legendary Imagine Software, has worked on over 300 titles throughout his career, contributing to projects for companies including Ocean, Team 17, Vicarious Visions, Probe, Magnetic Fields, and Atari.
○ Anthony and Nicola Caulfield – the founders of Gracious Films, a leading British producer of documentary films about video games.
○ Mike Dailly – a representative of the world’s top video game developers throughout their history. Mike became most famous for designing the Lemmings game, as well as the prototype for the first installment of the Grand Theft Auto series.
○ Jon „Jops” Hare – British programmer and author of computer game soundtracks, co-founder of Sensible Software, one of the most popular producers of computer games of the late 80s and early 90s. Author of such hits as Sensible Soccer, Cannon Fodder, Mega-Lo-Mania.
The festival is also a perfect opportunity to meet other dedicated gamers, talk and play together, or get unique geeky gadgets from a special commercial zone. The 11th edition of Pixel Heaven will take place at the Creative Industry Development Centre at 65 Minska Street in Warsaw. Tickets can be purchased through the official website. It's worth adding that this year the organizers have prepared two "afterparty" events. On Friday, May 26 at the Festival venue in Creative Industry Development Centre and on Saturday, May 27 at the Remont Club at 12A Waryńskiego Street in Warsaw.
