The dreams of going to Mars have finally become a reality! Thanks to Occupy Mars: The Game, we will take our first steps on the Red Planet on May 10th, 2023.
Save the date: May 10th, 2023 will be a groundbreaking date in the history of spaceflights. The creators from Pyramid Games announced that their open-world survival game – Occupy Mars: The Game – will launch in Early Access on that particular date. Expedition is just the beginning – players will have to fight for survival and prepare for further exploration of the planet right after landing. Unfortunately, no drills can imitate the conditions on Mars, so fighting the harsh weather will be the ultimate test of their skills.

Occupy Mars is a technical, open world, sandbox, survival game about Mars colonization. Conquering the Red Planet will be a daunting task for the explorers who aim to colonize it. Before any progress can be made, they must first overcome the challenging conditions of Mars, which include limited resources, energy, and access to oxygen and water. A single mistake could have catastrophic consequences, so it's essential to manage resources responsibly and plan subsequent stages of the mission carefully.
Key features of the game:
⚬ Manage your supplies – resources, water, oxygen, food and energy are essential to the survival on Mars, therefore make sure you are not missing anything; remember to prepare some stock that will come in handy in case of emergency.
⚬ Build and upgrade your base – everything must run smoothly at your command center – be mindful of unpredictable weather conditions and leave room for potential improvements; you will need to keep order for the base to operate properly, which is particularly important when hooking up wirings.
⚬ Conquer the planet – before setting up a base, you will have to find suitable terrain; especially look out for places where unpleasant conditions will interfere as little as possible – access to underground ice resources and a relatively flat surface are definitely what you need!
⚬ Day and night – realistic day and night cycle will allow you to feel the true atmosphere of visiting Mars; solar power will be crucial to your survival, so make sure the base is powered by enough panels, with batteries storing enough auxiliary power for a dark hour. Remember that on Mars sunsets and sunrises appear blue.

Occupy Mars: The Game will take you to the distant surface of the Red Planet, which you must not only explore, but also prepare for colonization. Building a functional base and taking care of its condition, discovering new technologies and their successive development, as well as exploring undiscovered parts of the planet are just some of the tasks you will have to face. An expedition to Mars carries as many opportunities as risks. You will not only need to deal with the harsh climate and dangerous weather phenomena, but also meet the basic necessities of life.
Among a variety of Martian challenges, you will also be responsible for finding a suitable site for organizing a habitat. Due to the discomforting environment on Mars, your base will require numerous repairs and improvements over time.
The game was in development since 2017 and brought to life thanks to a successful Kickstarter Campaign. The dedicated team at Pyramid Games placed emphasis on maintaining a balance between realism and enjoyable gameplay. Their aim is to continue updating the game post-release, in collaboration with the community of players, with the ultimate goal of introducing an Online Co-Op mode.
In addition to the PC game, there’s also a separate mobile game set to release at the same time. Occupy Mars: Colony Builder - a base-building game created for Android and iOS will be released around the same time as the PC version.
